Why the video quality doesn't change
A video file holds a picture track and a sound track. Clean Audio leaves the picture untouched: the compressed video frames are copied straight into the new file, so there is no re-encoding, no quality loss and no change in resolution or frame rate.
Only the sound track is decoded, cleaned and encoded again (AAC for MP4, Opus for WebM). That is also why it is fast: most of the work is on the audio, not the video.

Can I clean a YouTube or TikTok video?
You can clean any video file you have on your device, such as your own recording or an export from your editor. Clean Audio does not download videos from links.
Which file formats are supported?
Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG and Opus. Video: MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM and MKV. You can download clean audio as MP3 or WAV, and videos come back as MP4 (or WebM for WebM files).
Is there a length or size limit?
Files up to 30 minutes and 2 GB can be cleaned in the browser. The first time you use the tool it downloads a 12 MB noise model, which your browser keeps for later visits. Longer files work best on a laptop or desktop.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
Not by the free tool. Clean Audio downloads its noise model to your browser once and cleans the file on your own device. Only if you choose Studio is the audio sent to our cloud for that one job, and the upload is deleted within a day.
Can I remove the music from a video and keep the voice?
Often, yes. The model keeps speech and turns down other sounds, including background music behind someone talking. Results are best when the voice is louder than the music. To remove all sound instead, use the video audio remover.
